With 15 days to go before the event, wonderful news has been received by the EOC 2023 Organizing Committee. The Presidency of the Council of Ministers has granted the European Championships, which are valid as World Cup finals, its patronage, as per the norm issued for initiatives of high cultural, social, scientific, artistic, sporting importance, organized in the national territory or abroad. 

In Italy, the Presidency of the Council of Ministers is the structure used by the President of the Council of Ministers to exercise the autonomous functions of impulse, direction and coordination assigned to him. Patronage is a symbolic form of ideal endorsement and appreciation for events deemed worthy and of considerable interest. 

“It is a great honor for us to receive this recognition” – says Gabriele Viale, 2023 EOC General Manager – “especially in a country like Italy, where orienteering still represents a niche sport. We hope that our movement can grow also thanks to the driving effect of a major sporting event like the EOC, in addition, of course, to the constant commitment of the many sports associations operating in the area”.
